Using Flowers in Your Home

Using Flowers in Your Home

You don’t have to be a professional designer to enjoy flowers in your home!

Sometimes all you need is a bunch of one type of flower and a vase. This type of arrangement is beautiful and elegant in its simplicity.

I enjoy collecting all types of vases and containers.

Keep your eyes open at flea markets and yard sales for interesting containers. If it will hold water, it will hold flowers. Or if it doesn’t’t hold water, use a liner. No stems? No problem! Pretty bowls can be used for floating flowers on a coffee or side table.

Pretty teacups make great containers for short-stemmed flowers. I love to use them beside my bed. It makes me happy to wake up to fresh flowers. Have fun with flowers- they are beautiful whether they are arranged by a professional or not.

If you purchased a ready-made bouquet, make sure the opening of the vase is large enough to accommodate it, if it is too large consider adding some foliage from your yard or garden. Ligustrum, Pittosporum, Azalea foliage, Acuba, and Ivy are just a few greens that can be used as filler materials. Experiment with what you have available.
